Learn: Waqf & Ibtida
Where to stop, where to continue
Read the stop signs of the Quran (ۚ ۖ ۗ) and know when stopping or continuing changes the meaning.
Waqf marks tell you where a stop is allowed. Stopping can change meaning; this is a reading rule.
What you will be able to do
- Read and respond to common waqf symbols (ۚ ۖ ۗ ○ ●).
- Understand when stopping changes the meaning of a verse.
- Practise correct resumption (ibtida) after a stop.
Worked example in this lesson: ayah 1:7.
